LGBT+ History Month Civic Reception
Time & Location
About the Event
LGBT+ History Month is an opportunity to reflect on the progress of the LGBT+ civil rights movement. This event will mark the 20th anniversary of the repeal of Section 28 in Scotland. However, there is still much to be achieved, with our hopes turned to the upcoming Gender Recognition Act, currently in consultation stage.
The event will be an opportunity to reflect on the successes and achievements of the LGBT+ community in Perthshire, with two major recent events: Perthshire Pride 2018 which gathered 4000 people and Perthshire Pride 2019 which attracted some 7000 supporters, among which LGBT+ rights activist Sir Ian McKellan.
Perthshire Pride has also been actively promoting Perthshire as a safe space, organising social events and promoting of the Rainbow Sticker Scheme which encourages local businesses to show their support in tackling homophobia and transphobia. The Perthshire Pride team is excited to share some exclusive insight on their plans for 2020.
