**Disclaimer – This review is in no way impacted by my constant crush on Charlotte Richie that I have had since her ‘Fresh Meat’ days**
7 minutes in and I already felt that ‘Feel Good’ had shown a more believable story arch about a lesbian relationship than I had ever seen in any of the low budget crap that we continuously watch to get some form of representation.
The cast in this is phenomenal and every character is a well written and deeply flawed. This is one of the most relatable shows I have seen since Fleabag. Some of the lines I felt had literally been taken out of my mouth. And I think someone has been following relationships I have been in because its too close for comfort. I am expecting royalty cheques in the post.
The story takes 2 separate paths in exploring George’s shame of being gay and Mae’s struggle with an addictive personality in a way that is hilarious and heart-breaking; resulting in a full day binge watch. It would have been rude not to.
The last episode (no spoilers) I was shouting at the TV as I had fully invested in this show. And today I have been wandering around in a state of confusion as to how I coped before I watched this.
If this doesn’t get a 2nd series I will literally write Channel 4 bosses a strongly worded letter! I may even phone up and ask to speak to a manager!
Verdict – 5/5 Flannel Shirts
Don’t Agree!? I don’t care but fight me in the comments anyways!
